Are you desiring to be more connected with other believers?

Join a Group and experience the connection!

Groups are designed to connect people with one another and with God for the purpose of becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Harvest Lake Zurich invites you to join one of our Groups. New groups are formed three times during the year. Go to the "Groups" link to find what groups are offered and to request to join a particular group.  A list of our groups are also available at our Guest Central. If you have additional questions please call our church office at (847) 438-7440. You need a group and a group needs you!

Why join a Group?

- It has been shown that spiritual growth is more rapid when one spends time in “community” with other believers.

- Groups become a safe place to share life’s struggles and challenges.

-  Groups build and strengthen relationships and help create strong friendships.

- Groups encourage us to yield ourselves to the Word of God, protecting us from sin, false doctrine, and spiritual apathy.

- Groups are FUN! The “Joy Factor” in the Christian walk increases when we are in close relationship with one another.

What is the purpose of Groups?

The three main purposes of Home Groups are:

1. Spiritual Growth – growing together spiritually as we study and discuss God’s Word and challenge each other to a deeper walk with God.

2. Build Relationships – developing relationships where we are able to support and encourage one another, provide accountability to one another and experience community.

3. Experience God’s presence worshipping and praying together as we experience His Spirit and presence as a group – connecting to one another for the purpose of connecting with God.

What does Group mean?

A Harvest Group usually consist of anywhere from 5 to 18 people coming together on a weekly basis, to study God’s Word and do life together in a setting that is conducive to relationship building and spiritual growth.

Examples of Groups in Scripture may be found in the book of Acts:

Acts 2:46 “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

Acts 5:42 “And every day in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”

How often do Groups meet?

Groups are set up to meet weekly.  They meet at differrent times and different days according to the availability of the leader. Groups meet for a 10-12 week period in the fall, winter or summer.

What do Groups Study?

Groups may begin with a study chosen by a leader or recommended by a Pastor or other church leader. Once a group has completed their initial study and decides to continue meeting, they often choose their own study from a selection of materials available through the church or other source. It may be a study from a series, something designed for Groups, a topic of interest, or a passage of Scripture.

What happens at a Group Meeting?
A typical Group meeting would begin with a time of fellowship and small talk. Groups then have a study time,  a time to share prayer requests and a time of prayer. Many groups also serve light refreshments. Most Group meetings last an hour and a half to two hours. Some arrange childcare, others do not.
