The Children’s Ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel Lake Zurich is growing fast and we are always looking for those whom God has equipped and called into this wonderful ministry. We are seeking those who have the desire to come and shepherd our children for Christ. It is a rewarding and worthy experience where you are building treasure in heaven.

We are always looking for:
· Caregivers for nursery, crawlers and walkers. These leaders nurture the kids with gentleness and love of Christ.
· Volunteers for children 2 years old through the 5th grade. These leaders help in one group of the kids to apply biblical truths and shepherd the children to walk with Christ
· Worship Leaders - Lead the kids in learning and singing music in a manner that points them to Christ.
· Large Group Leaders – for children 2 years old through the 5th grade. These leaders teach one group of the kids the Biblical truths with objects, drama, puppets, and group activities to inspire the them to follow and grow in Christ.
Our goal of the ministry is to teach our children the biblical truths and lay a foundation for their life long relationship with Jesus Christ.

Becoming a Volunteer
Christians who are in places of responsibility in the church should be examples in faith, conduct and business affairs. Maintaining high standards for volunteers is one of the best ways to represent Christ to the people in our community.
Adult Volunteers
- Complete our Children’s Ministry Application.
- Complete an interview with the Pastor of Children's Ministry.
- Complete our Children's Ministry Covenant.
- Be willing to have a Background Check done.
- Complete our Volunteer Orientation.
- Respect the Biblical authority of the leadership of our Children’s Ministry.
- Be faithful to attend our weekend worship service.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Attend leadership and training meetings.
- Willing to make a school year commitment.
- Give 30 days notice when resigning from your position.
Student Volunteers

Job Descriptions
Hall Monitor
- Arrive 20 minutes before service.
- Make sure each classroom is properly staffed.
- If needed, recuit other temporary staff to maintain our proper ratio. (leaders to children)
- Assist volunteers with bathroom breaks for children.
- Head count children in each classroom and record the number on a provided form.
- Page/contact parents as needed.
- Make rounds and make sure the needs are met in each classroom.
- Bring any unresolved issues to the Children's Pastor.
- Be ready to fill in for Badge or Memory Verse Station when needed.
Visitor Station Staff = "Greeter"
- Arrive 20 minutes before service.
- Make sure the welcome desk is neat and has all the needed supplies.
- Pleasantly greet visitors and help them fill out visitor information sheet.
- Check the visitor information sheet for completeness.
- Page staff or Hall monitor to give first time visitors orientation of Children's Ministry.
- Assign a temporary number for the family and assist in filling out the name tags.
- Hand out gifts for first time visitors.
- File the completed visitor information sheets in the front of the black box.
- Take photos of parents or guardians on their fourth visit and save the visitor information sheet for our Children's staff.
- Receive and return the camera to our Children's staff.
- May be released from the station 20 minutes into the service upon notifying the Hall Monitor.
Badge Station Staff
- Arrive 20 minutes before service.
- Make sure the badges are filed properly for distribution.
- Pleasantly greet and distribute badges to each family.
- Report any missing or damaged badges to the Children's Pastor.
- May be released from the station 15 minutes into the service upon notifying the Hall Monitor.
Event Staff
- Coordinate special events communicated by the Children's Pastor or Assistant Director.
- Organize meetings with event volunteers to plan and delegate responsibilities.
- Purchase any items needed for the events.
- Arrive early on the day of the event to prepare and organize the event.
- Communicate with Children's Pastor or assistant director of the progress.
Worship Leader
- Attend Curriculum Committee meetings.
- Be faithful to spend time, effort and prayer in preparing large group teaching lessons for designated Sundays.
- Arrive 30 minutes before service and get ready for the large group teaching.
- Be stationed at the Children's worship center and build relationship with arriving children.
- Prepare any ice-breaker activities for Sign in Station.
- Actively participate during the praise time.
- Lead the offering time and prayer as necessary.
- Make any announcements as needed.
Large group Bible Story Teacher
- Arrive 15 minutes before service.
- Be faithful to spend time, effort and prayer in preparing songs and lessons.
- Get organized and be ready to teach at the start of worship service.
- Convey any expectations to adult and student volunteers before the worship.
- Receive lesson plan for the following Sunday from Children's Pastor or Assistant.
Small Group Leaders
- Arrive 15 minutes before service.
- Be faithful to spend time, effort and prayer in preparing small group lessons.
- Engage children in provided activities as they arrive.
- Attend and actively participate in the worship with the children.
- Find out the depth of the children's understanding of the lesson and help clarify any misunderstandings.
- Help the children build trust through intentional shepherding; build relationship with them, lead them to Christ, help them find personal relationship with Christ, assist them in spiritual growth, sharing prayer requests and and following up with them when necessary.
Curriculum Coordinator
- With the Children's Pastor and the assistant director, wisely choose curriculum for the children for the year.
- Prepare take home sheets, lesson plans and activities each week and submit to the Director to be reviewed, e-mailed and handed out to the teachers and parents.
- Constantly be looking out for good resource or curriculum materials and bring them to the attention of Children's Pastor and assistant director.
- Establish on going communication with Worship Leaders and Story Tellers and aid them in anyway in excelling their large group teaching.
Technical Support
- Arrive 30 minutes before the service.
- Assist Song or Worship Leaders with power point.
- Help secure the worship equipment.
Set Up or Tear Down Coordinator/Staff
- Set up volunteers will arrive one hour before the schedule service.
- Set up each room according to the set up guide line.
- Turn the lights and music on in each room.
- Draw a floor plan of each room before moving anything in the classroom and attach the drawing on the board.
- Tear down volunteers will start tear down after the second service according to the tear down guide line.
- Put away all the Children’s Ministry belonging in the designated black rolling bin.
- Follow the floor plan drawn by the set up volunteers to restore the room.
- Turn off the lights when the room is finished.
- Roll the black rolling carts to the adult worship area.
- Report any damages to the equipments to the Children's Pastor
